My family has many different “groups”. These groups each have there own dinner and all expect me to be there. Every thanksgiving we have to travel to every home for another dinner ><. Just for reference these are all the families we have to visit. my mother,my grandmother,my other grandparents, my girlfriend’s family, and my girlfriend’s grandparents. Sounds hectic right?

For starters we visit my mother at 2:00 then we rush, we being my girlfriend and me, to her grandparents 3:30 then to my grandmother 4:30 then to my other grandparents 5:00 and finally show up late to my girlfriend family’s dinner. Of coarse there is no way we could eat at all these places but its still fun to visit family.

As of the last two centuries the United States (and the rest of the world) has used fossil fuels -specifically coal- as a primary energy resource. Although fossil fuels have proved to be an excellent power source, so excellent that it jump-started the industrial revolution and has delivered power to most of the world’s population. Fossil fuels are starting to encounter many problems.

Just one of these problems is that soon there will be no fossil fuels. According to a team from the University of Uppsala, a Swedish university, the worlds oil reserves my actually be up to 80% less than expected. Not only is the global reserve low, but even American reserves are lower than excepted. In 2002 the projected oil in Alaska was around 10.6 billion barrels, however more recent studies indicate that there are only about 896 million barrels of oil. That is roughly 90% less than what was originally expected. Considering the decreasing supply of fossil fuels soon we will be forced, rather than given a choice to change the way we acquire energy.

Not only are fossil fuels running out, moreover they have lead to many environmental problems. The burning of fossil fuels, which is how energy is obtained from them, release greenhouse gases that, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, trap heat with in the Earth’s atmosphere and ultimately lead to an increase in the Earth’s temperature. This increase in temperature is called global warming. Global warming has lead to the some of the most beautiful glaciers in the world to melt away, and is projected to make the world’s sea level rise 2 feet, which is enough to sink up to 10.000 square miles of American soil. However, not all of global warning’s damage is cosmetic and speculation. “We estimate that climate change may already be causing in the region of 160,000 deaths… a year,” Andrew Haines of the UK’s London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) told a climate change conference in Moscow. The effects of fossil fuels are shown to be extremely dangerous to not only the planet, but to people as well.

In the last few day I have been trying rather diligently to find a topic for my paper. In the consideration of my major “Nuclear Engineering” I choose to write about Nuclear energy and how it is the key to overcoming fossil fuels. I also had trouble finding really good source but after about 30min of research I believe I have discovered a very good topic that will overall be easy to write about. Today I pitch it hope it goes well.

     A current issue that troubles me is education. Mainly in k-12. Children are no longer taught to think. They are given information that is to be regurgitated on the next “test”. Children assume that there is only one answer, and that is that. No reason is taught to children. In New York and Michigan a test question involving the Pythagorean theorem was given as a “logic question” 1/3 got it correct.

    What I am looking for in this midterm election is a candidate that will advocate for a new education system where children are taught logic and reason. Not to regurgitate knowledge but truly apply to real-type problems. That is intelligence not test scores.

     Your probably wondering where I am, or why this letter was left here. As the child you raised, you taught me to fight for what I believe in. You always enforced that if you don’t do anything you won’t change anything. So that’s what I’m doing. Early this morning I left to fight for the Union.

     Despite or family’s inherited beliefs, against federal government, I believe there are bigger issues in the war. As a free man I feel entitled to ensure that all Americans are free. I’m sure anyone reading this would agree to that. However, many American are not that way.. Far from it. They are slaves that everyday labor for no reward or property. They are property! I cannot let this guilt weigh over me anymore, and I have decided to engage in this conflict so that I may free others.

     I hope that someday we can understand one another. Consequently I hope that after the war we can all live in the same household again, and enjoy the fact that we truly live in a free nation.

In this post I will dwell into the mind of today’s NASCAR driver. I got to be fast, that’s the name of the game the faster I am and the slower they are is what makes me a winner. But to be fast I need the top of the line equipment, crew and the fastest car. My crew is so fast that they can shred off 20 lug nuts and slap on 4 new tires in 12 seconds, and also throw in a fill up while there at it. My car is the product of over 60 years of engineering and fine tuned to the track so that I am able to make a victory and day any how.

    I wish the car could win by its self but the real motivation is my  skill. that is what makes or breaks the team my skill determines and win or a loss by I know I am the best and will definatly come home the winner today.

   This is my prospective of what the average NASCAR driver thinks on a daily basis.

        If I was to chose a generation of time to live in as an American it would have to be the 1920’s. The man reason would be to experience an America that would be in great shape, an excellent economy, and a time that brought along many changes. Many liberal view came to light in this period that set the foundation of the current United states (such as women rights). Aslo in the 1920’s the economy was best it has been in any point in American history. People were truly happy and spoiled in light of the depression to come.

      How the 1920’s can reflect on my personality is that I am liberal and agree with many of the values introduced in this decade. Also, like most people I enjoy fun,and having money! It would awesome to live in a world were everyone has a job and more than enough to take care of themselves. I also enjoy the like of economic struggles, it’s a time of peace and prosperity which couldn’t match anymore to myself.
